Brown Bag Series

Our Brown Bag Series are the most popular and well-attended events that we offer at BGBG. The first half hour is designated for networking among attendees and speakers. The Brown Bag Series are often standing room only so people are encouraged to RSVP and register online.

Residential Brown Bag Series
take place the second Tuesday of each month from 11:30 - 1:30 at the REI Community Room 1789 28th Street in Boulder.
Commercial Brown Bag Series take place the first Wednesday of each month from 11:30 - 1:30 at the REI Community Room 1789 28th Street in Boulder.

    Simple & Practical Applications for Solar Thermal in Residential Settings

    This presentation will discuss interfacing solar thermal into the average lifestyle from basic water heating to heating the home.

    Topics to be discussed are:

    Return On Investment VS Payback,  System Selection,   Drain back VS Closed Loop,   Flat Plate VS Evacuated Tube, Energy Metering, and The Future of Solar Thermal. And if time permits, how to connect to basic systems such as existing water heaters, tankless, radiant heating, and forced air.

    This is a basic class for those exploring investment in solar thermal. The focus of this presentation is to familiarize you with the possibilities and power of a well designed and installed solar thermal system.
     
    Presenters:

    Bo DeAngelo
    Bo is the president of Automatic Co, a full service plumbing & mechanical firm serving Boulder County since 2003. With a company focus on craftsmanship and appropriate design, the Automatic team strives to put efficiency first in every system they build.
    Bo is a NABCEP certified Solar Thermal installer, Master Plumber, and Master Mechanical Contractor.   Bo is also a member of the Board of Directors for COSEIA, and its solar thermal sub-committee. He has also served as a technical advisory member for all GEO solar thermal rebate programs. Bo holds over 25 years of experience mastering his trades.

    Eric Anderson
    Eric is a design & technical manager for Low Energy Systems in Denver, CO.  Low Energy Systems is a wholesale-only distributor specializing in Solar Thermal and high efficiency heating systems. Eric has been installing, designing, and specifying solar thermal systems since 1985.
